The third film in the Fantastic Beasts franchise finally has a name and it will open in cinemas three months earlier than planned, on April 15, 2022.
“Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore” was initially scheduled to release on July 15 of next year, but the studio opted to move its premiere up by three months.
Here’s the official plot tease straight from Wizarding World: “Professor Albus Dumbledore knows the powerful Dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald is moving to seize control of the wizarding world. Unable to stop him alone, he entrusts Magizoologist Newt Scamander to lead an intrepid team of wizards, witches and one brave Muggle baker on a dangerous mission, where they encounter old and new beasts and clash with Grindelwald’s growing legion of followers. But with the stakes so high, how long can Dumbledore remain on the sidelines?”
David Yates – who directed the final four films in the origional “Harry Potter” series and the first two “Fantastic Beasts” films – returns for the third title. The prequel series — set decades before the adventures of the Golden Trio – Harry, Ron and Hermione — centers on magizoologist Newt Scamander, who becomes a confidant of a young Albus Dumbledore, portrayed by Jude Law, amid the rise of the Hitler-esque Grindelwald.
The cast sees the return of Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander and Jude Law as a young Albus Dumbledore as well as Katherine Waterston, Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller, Dan Fogler and Jessica Williams. Mads Mikkelsen will replace Johnny Depp as Grindelwald.
J.K. Rowling is co-writing the script for the third “Fantastic Beasts” film with Steve Kloves who worked on many of the original “Harry Potter” movies.
Of course, Quizzic Alley will be actively sourcing new merchandise for the third movie as soon as it is released. In the meantime, check out our great Fantastic Beasts range online.
