Harry Potter: Warner Bros announces a new game

Hogwarts Legacy was hugely successful – perhaps one of the best-selling games in recent history – but for many fans it was missing a vital feature… Quidditch! Now we know why.

Warner Bros. has announced that a new game, Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions, is in active development which will be welcome news for the legion of fans keen to mount their broomsticks and play the wizarding world’s most popular sport.

Described as a “fast-paced, competitive multi-player game featuring the world’s most iconic magical sport”, Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions will “enagage players in the sport of Quidditch and other broomstick adventures alongside friends in a competitive multiplayer setting.”

The inclusion of “broomstick adventures” is a tantalising hint that perhaps players will be able to ride outside the confines of the Quidditch pitch and partake in other magical activities.

Released under the Portkey Games label, the complete, standalone game has apparently been in development for several years by Unbroken Studios.

There are few details yet but, as with Hogwarts Legacy, gamers will be able to create and customise their own character.

The new game comes as no surprise following the incredible success of Hogwarts Legacy which sold more than 12 million copies in the first two weeks, generating more than AU$1.2 billion in sales since its release in February.

It will be available on PC with consoles yet to be determined. We also must wait for a release date for Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions but we know there will be playtests that will allow you to play an early version of the game. You can register for them HERE.

The only other official game dedicated to Quidditch was Harry Potter: Quidditch World Cup, released in 2003 for Game Boy Advance , GameCube, PlayStation 2 and Xbox.
